This book is specially compiled to help non-native speakers of Chinese to communicate with Chinese people correctly and in a socially appropriate way.

The conversations in the book are selected with a functional approach - they embrace all the main types of exchanges commonly used in social contact and in everyday situations in China. Typical examples are followed by explanations on how they are used in particular situations. Common alternatives which can be employed under similar circumstances are provided with each example.
